    • Our last thunderstorm packed driving rain and winds of about 40 miles an hour, with frequent lightning. If anyone had stood on either of our porches to watch, they would have been drenched in less than a minute, although both are covered. lol

    • We once had a neighbor who had a near miss. The lightning didn’t strike any people or the house, but it struck the electric lines outside the house. It destroyed their stove, washing machine, clothes dryer, microwave oven, computer, water heater, and caused every lightbulb in the house to explode. With all of that, it could have been much worse because it didn’t cause a fire.

    • I have seen that damage, too, unfortunately. Last year, millions of acres of forest land burned in Montana alone and in all of those hundreds of fires, only two or three weren’t caused by lightning. Those few fires that weren’t lightning-caused burned a total of less than 50 acres, combined, too.

  1. I love thunders and storms, but only when I’m home! My hometown is on about 900m above the sea level, therefore the thunders are strong and quite loud! However I love it, even though sometimes I am afraid of it!

    • I know quite a few people who enjoy the sound of thunder and the flashes of lightning. Our daughter is scared of lightning and thunder, though she is 35 years old.
