There are many different traditions that revolve around when Christmas gifts are opened. In some families, they are opened on Christmas Eve. In others, they are opened on Christmas morning. In still others, one gift is opened on Christmas Eve and the rest are opened on Christmas morning. Sometimes they are opened all at once and other times they are opened one at a time so everyone can take pleasure in the opening of every gift.
This poll is only in regard to when you usually open your Christmas gifts, rather than how you open them.

If possible, we open Christmas morning….this year we opened them tonight on Christmas Eve.
I’m simply waiting for everyone to wake up this Christmas morning. When they get up, I’ll feed the kitties, make eggnog and a big pot of coffee, then we will start opening gifts. lol
Sounds like ba nice Christmas.
I’m waiting to see if we get to go to Christmas dinner….it snowed quite a bit over night ?
In general in the morning so the whole army is complete gathered and happy together.
I understand that entirely. It is for that reason that there will be a flurry of activity around here today, after church. As much prep work for Christmas dinner will be done today so we can open gifts tomorrow without needing to worry about the time it will take to get dinner ready.
You are absolutely right, Rex.
Here in the Philippines most Filipinos open their gifts on Christmas Eve!
I sort of wonder if that isn’t a Spanish custom. They do that in Mexico and through Central America, too, and all those countries are heavily influenced by Spanish association.
Yeah. I think you’re right. Most of our traditions here are from Spain. 😉
On Christmas Eve we wait till midnight and then we exchange gifts.
That is an interesting way to do it. When we were kids, though, it was extremely rare for us to get to stay up past 9 pm. We always got up about 5:30 am, though, so that probably wasn’t a bad thing. We had to get up that early so we could get dressed and eat breakfast before my dad left for work at 6:30.
Yes, when I was little I had to wait until the morning, but in general we go to bed late now, so it’s okay.
WEhen I was little the tree did not even go up until Christmas Eve. We always opened presents on Christmas morning.
We always got our tree a week before Christmas, but the gifts were opened Christmas morning. By then, the whole house had the most delightful fir smell.
We would always wait until Christmas morning to open all of your gifts.
I feel the same, but our daughter has a thing about opening one gift on Christmas Eve. I don’t know where she started doing that, but it wasn’t with us. She claims that it was and it isn’t worth arguing about.
Thank you very much for this poll, connected with Christmas gifts!!! Let me to do my bit in your Christmas mood – https://virily.com/item/christmas-decor-devoted-mans-best-friend/
