I have been waiting on the butterflies to arrive in Dustin’s garden. The butterfly bush is in bloom. Yesterday I finally saw a monarch. Was so shocked, this was my first butterfly of the year. Monarchs are beautiful and I do not see them every year. It was such a special visit.
The monarch butterfly may be the most widely recognized of all American butterflies with its orange, black, and white wings. While beautiful, this coloring actually sends a warning to predators that the monarch is foul tasting and poisonous. Found throughout the United States, as well as Mexico and Canada, one of the most notable characteristics about the monarch is the astonishing 3000 mile journey some will make in the fall to their wintering grounds in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Mexico or to southern California, depending on which part of the United States or Canada they migrate.

Yes, I have raised Monarch Butterflies and right now in the middle of winter, I am raising Monarch caterpillars that will become butterflies.
You are so blessed to do this Pam. I need to take that hobby on as I enjoy butterflies and the process so much.
