It simply does not make any sense to me that someone would expect to earn money by opening a post. I can understand that reading a post and then commenting with great SEO in mind, would be very beneficial for the site as a whole and earning. But what value is there in simply opening and closing posts? It’s kind of like the upvote. It might give someone a warm fuzzy feeling, but it doesn’t help with earnings.
Because of the way I view that I try to never just write a comment or give an upvote, I do them together and I don’t just go open posts because I don’t see the point. If the site isn’t making money there is no money to share.

the way it is working today – the site gets value anytime there are “eyeballs” on an ad. So opening a post does help the site generate overall revenue.
The question I suspect is the value to an author. i like comments. But i find i like comments from people that read my article more!
Okay, so just going and opening and closing posts all day is valuable? (Nothing is making sense to me this week! Can I have a do over?)
depends. If I had access to the site stats I could answer that question.
Yes, if someone opens reads and spends 50 or more seconds on the page.
No if they open and close in less than 20 seconds.
or worse just upvote.
You picked a very confusing question!
Well good to know that I can make things confusing. Perhaps that is a talent I have!
Every site makes money for posts viewed. Views amount to earnings just as clicking on ads and buying stuff from those links.
Yes, I believe that is accurate.
Yes, the site needs money to pay us. Clicking the advertisement also helps them
I suppose if you have a real interest in the product that would be fine.
That is my routine when I come on here. Before I post I look through my notifications and answer people or like their comments. Then I go and read posts and comment on those.
That seems like an excellent routine. I don’t do the same thing every day. Perhaps that is what I need to change.
That is for the Site to decide. Perhaps they benefit when someone opens a post and views it. It is the number of views that matter regardless of whether there are comments. Having said that I certainly would want comments from users on my posts.
I personally don’t comment every post I read unless I have something to say, but I see your point.
And do you think you should just get a viril for opening a post. It’s not a trick question, just asking a question.
I think the viril is a nice bonus, but I can live without it.
I agree with you. Commenting is what needs to happen more often. Meaningful comments. Kind comments. Comments to let you know your posts are actually being read.

It is so important that people know they have been heard and understood.
Yes it is, that is why we are here, or most of us anyway.
