Which way to go
was thrown to the cat
whose reply
snarky
where do you want to end up
left more questions
no answers.
Does where we go matter
the arrow telling us the path
telling us where we are bound.
Does where we go matter?
In the darkness with a flashlight
as we push into the jungle
and regretting
no bug spray
we swat at baseball sized
mosquitos, each one growing
as it approaches
and fading away
dripping blood.
Does it matter where we go?

Powerful poem. I am at a crossroads too, don’t know where to go. I have just lost my job so I am thinking of leaving this area, and moving somewhere else. I don’t know where though – hoping that inspiration may strike soon.
First I am sorry to hear about losing your job. It is the sad reality of the modern workforce. There are not forever jobs.
There are many wonderful places to consider. That is cool that you are doing that. Sorry for the why.
Thank you DocAndersen. Yes, there are many wonderful places to consider – I would ideally like to live in the countryside or by the sea, but can’t move with no job and no money behind me, that is the problem I have. I am applying for jobs in other areas anyway, and seeing what happens. Thank you for your good wishes.
You are most welcome and best of luck!
Sometimes we really find ourselves at a crossroads. We do not know which route to choose which one is better, etc. At the big crossroads, I was after her husband’s death.
I have found myself at crossroads often. Sorry to hear about your husband.
That was me all the years I lived in Latvia. Alice in a strange wonderland. It was my late husband who was always by my side leading me through it all hand in hand. So you can imagine that once I lost him I also lost all sense of the wonderland and with those awful painful memories everywhere I just had to get back to the US.
I am sorry for your loss.
I used to travel all the time. More than a million miles in the air. I always told my wife “it wasn’t real until I showed her the pictures.”
I understand the disconnection when that person isn’t next to you.
