HO, HO, HO, VIRILY, AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU

So, just why does Santa Claus say these words, well, there has been huge speculation about, just why, if it’s just laughter, doesn’t he just laugh like everyone else supposedly does, ha, ha, ha,? Could there possibly be more to that stock-in-trade sound he makes once a year?

I was being my usual self, ie. uber-curious so I started my research and after an amusing search as to the origin of the sounds he utters, Merriam-Webster had the most plausible explanation, and here it is, ”The truth is simple: The catchphrase is “used to represent laughter,” So, when Santa utters “ho, ho, ho,” he isn’t actually saying anything—he’s laughing! Now, you might be asking yourself why Santa doesn’t simply say “ha, ha, ha” if he’s having a chuckle. Well, the answer lies in his figure. One of Santa’s most iconic features is his round belly—and when a person says “ho, ho, ho,” the sound is considered to come from the stomach. The phrase is also often associated with warmth and old age, both of which fit Santa’s image perfectly.”

Thank you, Virily staff, one and all, for your valiant efforts to provide a warmly anticipated daily destination point in my life. The road has obviously not been an easy one, for you, the admin staff and most assuredly not for the writer/members either.

In light of this, may I wish you and your loved ones, a well-deserved rest? May you return in the new year invigorated and excited about this young company Virily and the many great possibilities for both you and the dedicated writers here on this site.

So, as the portly description of Santa Clausés stature befits my own, (the belly) allow me to bid you all a hearty, “Ho, ho, ho.
