Do you like your name?

Some people don’t like their first name. They wish to change it. Maybe because it’s too long or people don’t know how to pronounce it correctly. As for me, I like my first name. It is Nnaemeka. I love it. It means “Father has done well.” Sometimes I wonder why my parents gave me that name. One day, I’ll ask them for the reason behind the name.

I’d like to know what you think. Do you wish to change your first name?

  1. My name is Zaklina which is Serbian transcription of Jacquelline. Till recently, I wasn’t so happy with it, because I haven’t known its meaning. Unless my name, my nickname stuck to me from the day I was born and still is a great part of my identity. I strongly believe that “nomen est omen” (the name is the sign), so being not familiar with the meaning of my first name, I embraced my nickname as my “omen”. 🙂

  2. My name is unique enough that not many people share the name. In a crowd, someone can yell my name and I’ll probably be the only one who answers. lol The name means “King” or “Emperor”, but I don’t relate to that meaning. That is very unlike the Bible where all the names had a definite meaning.
