Change is Essential in Life

If nothing changed, there would be no butterflies.

This inscription is on a special gift my sister gave me only a few months before she passed.

The butterfly begins life as an egg, emerges as a caterpillar, and then undergoes a complete change in body form during development.

The butterfly’s wings are initially soft and shriveled, but they expand and harden within a few hours. The butterfly then takes flight to pursue its main adult activities, mating and reproduction. It has no time to waste.

Adults of most species live for only a few weeks.

Only a few weeks, then the butterfly dies. How sad. A lesson to be learned here. Life is short.

Make use of the time we all have here. And change is absolutely essential in life. Hard but we must push through what life throws our way and know things will be easier eventually.

  1. i used to watch the millions of fireflies that lit the night sky. Flashing on and off, i found peace in that constant.

    I miss the fireflies.

Butterflies are truly the best and the worst. The worst, caterpillars that destroy plants. The best, butterflies that bring beauty to the world.
