Birds of the Alphabet ~ Eagle

Another part to my series, Bird of the Alphabet.

No personal photos to share of the next bird on my list ~ EAGLE

Would love to photograph an eagle. They are spectacular in my opinion. Maybe one day.

Learned a ton, once again, about these amazing birds.

Eagles are often informally divided into four groups.

1. Fish Eagles: Sea eagles or fish eagles take fish as a large part of their diets, either fresh or as carrion.

2. Booted Eagles: Booted eagles or “true eagles” have feathered tarsi (lower legs).

3. Snake Eagles: Snake or serpent eagles are, as the name suggests, adapted to hunting reptiles.

4. Harpy eagles or “giant forest eagles” are large eagles that inhabit tropical forests. The group contains two to six species, depending on the author. Although these birds occupy similar niches, and have traditionally been grouped together, they are not all related: the solitary eagles are related to the black-hawks, and the Philippine eagle to the snake eagles.

I had no idea there were this many eagles. Amazing to learn so much about nature.  Would love to be able to soar as high as an eagle, right!

  1. That was very interesting and to get to know the types of eagles. Only once I did see an eagle flying high up in the sky but I did not stand around too long because I was thinking what if the eagle bombed me and that is one big bird. lol
