During the winter the birds are always looking for food. These holly berries are one of their favorites.
They visit the deck feeder every day and eat sunflower seeds and peanuts.
But in nature these berries appear for winter food.
Kind of like nature is providing food for our feathered friends.

The berries should help many of nature’s friends.
Yes the birds enjoy them year round especially in the winter.
Aldo Leopold once wrote (in the plants of Door County Wisconsin)
nature lies within us. It is the us we wish to always be.
That is perfect, I could have written that one.
you could of written that one! Aldo I am sure wouldn’t care (he has been gone since 1948
Lovely photo of these red berries..
Thanks Pam, I like seeing them in the winter with the evergreen leaves.
The Kereru or NZ wood pigeon eats Puriri tree red berries, and a Puriri pip or seed does not grow unless it passes through the Kereru or NZ Woodpigeon.
Beautiful picture. The birds are certainly very happy about these berries.
Thank you my friend. The birds love these.
Lovely photo; nature has its ways.
Thanks, I love all kinds of things offered by nature.
