Almost done with my ABC Desserts series.
VANILLA CREAM PIE
Never made this pie before but have ordered it in restaurants. Very creamy and delicious.
Some refer to this pie as a vanilla custard pie. Either way, it is a delicious treat.
You can see from the ingredients how light and delicious it would be….
- 1-1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- FILLING:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

I love vanilla cream pie! I had it in Puerto Rico where they let the pie set, before adding the top, they carefully removed a center bit out of each piece and added rum.

Your version sounds really good. Amaretto is a nice sweet drink… or so I have been told. 🙂
it is very sweet overall and adds a delightful flavor
another way i’ve had it was with vanilla ice cream!
And a scoop of vanilla ice cream works on most pies.
