A Poll about Underarm Hair

Axillary hair aka underarm hair can be a ticklish topic. Cultural attitudes to it vary by country and by age. Back in the 1970s, I recall that it was quite usual to see unshaven female armpits in Europe, but that all changed about 20 years ago, and now armpit shaving is becoming quite popular among males too here. In America, women having been shaving their underarms for about 100 years, and I understand that many males shave there too. Most of what I have heard on the subject is anecdotal, so I’ve set up a poll, to test attitudes by both women and men. When answering, don’t forget that Virily polls are totally anonymous 🙂

  1. It looks gross on women. Yes, I know it is natural, but natural isn’t always best. Women shouldn’t be obliged to shave if they don’t want to of course, but a lot of them, like the ones in the picture, just don’t shave to make a deliberate, provocative statement – look at them all wearing sleeveless tops and holding their arms in the air! Just stupid attention-seeking.
