It’s Monday morning and I reached the office at 7:59 in the morning. Perfect! I headed toward my table and found this paper bag. I read the message. It was from my co-worker who left for Australia last Friday when I was attending a training related to laws on animal welfare.
I’ve been in this office for more than 9 years and I’ve seen colleagues who left the office for some reasons. Some have gone abroad, others have transferred to another office and a few had retired from the service.
Though it’s expected, it is still sad to see other people go. Of course, with Jake, I am happy for him because he is leaving to take advantage of an opportunity offered to him in another land. I believe that every individual has the right to look for a better career.

This does not apply to me, I am retired and used to be a home carer.
Thank you, Pamela, for viewing and commenting. Being able to do what we want is something to look forward to. As of now, I am doing what I need to do most of the time. It’s only when I’m online that I can say I am doing what I want to do.
Yes, especially if the person is close to us. Thank you for commenting.
If we are on the beach for a long time, we will continue to see the waves coming and going.
I’m sure there are also people who see us coming and going.
I’ve been with this office for 9 years but I have been transferred to different locations for 6 times. We cannot stay in a certain place for more than 3 years. The reason for this is to prevent familiarization. So I am used to this kind of situation. I avoid being too close to anybody because I know my situation.
You have a strong life principle, Sharon!
At times leaving is inevitable. One can retire or move to another station
That’s true. I saw many people come and leave. Thank you for dropping by.
nothing lasts forever, things change for any number of reasons
That’s true. The only constant is ‘change’. I have been assigned to different places because of the nature of my work. And there is one thing I keep reminding myself. Not to be too attached to someone or something.
the only constant is change? you said a mouthful
It is good when and for the future friendship between colleagues remains.
I hope too. But with current work schedules, it is good if we can update from time to time. Thank you for dropping by.
I worked in the same company until retirement (42 years). Over the years, many colleagues fought.
Forty-two years is such a long time. Here in our country being able to work in the government is the dream of many. So, probably if I was able to enter government service earlier, perhaps I would have been more than 15 years in service. But it took me some time before I was hired. It was a long and difficult process. I stayed in a private company for 7 years.
That was nice that he left you a goodbye note. You can stay in touch.
Yes and a simple token. I’ll be using the tea mug every day. He is a kind person that always give gifts on various occasions.
I had a colleague in 1997, who left us in sad way , died due to cancer when we were in 10th standard
It’s the most sorrowful way of leaving. Thank you Witty Feeds for commenting.
Yes it really sad moment we still remember that moment and can’t forget it.
In our country, we are quick to change jobs … better working conditions, better pay … young people today change their job every year
When I was younger, I want to change job more often. But it is a different thing as we grow older. I am working in the government and I need at least 15 years in service to be eligible for a pension after retirement.
With us we need 40 years of service to be entitled to a pension … I worked in one company for 25 years … then I changed the service to the postmortem 2 more services and nothing more
Its a small world you can always keep in touch with people these days.
Technically, yes, we can remain in contact with our friends regardless of the distance. Thank you for dropping by.
