Yercaud is a mild hill station in Tamil Nadu. It is not as popular as Ooty or Kodaikanal, the two major hill stations in South India. There lies its beauty. It is less commercialised and a large part of this hill stays with its virgin charm. It is blessed with a lush green surroundings and a pleasant weather.This is the only hill station in Tamil Nadu with a natural lake. All the other hill stations have artificial lakes. It has numerous view points, rose gardens and parks. There are also mild and strenuous trek routes to provide some action. There are a few colonial era buildings like churches and schools worth visiting. It takes a drive time of 7 hours to reach Yelagiri from Chennai. So it is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway.

Sounds like a romantic hide out to me.
It is also a favorite destination for honeymooners but you would see families outnumber young couples by a mile.
seven hours? that’s brutal…
7 hours do not feel much with a break for food. So it is roughly 3 hours on either side of the break.
three hours is still too much for me. I don’t travel well
I can understand. For me, the maximum time I can drive happily is 8 to 9 hours with a couple of breaks. I would get tired and exhausted beyond that.

Yes. We have 4 hill stations near Chennai. The nearest 2 are Yelagiri and Yercaud. So we frequent these places more than Ooty or Kodaikanal.
