Chennai is blessed with a long coastline. The Bay of Bengal sea forms its eastern boundary. So from most localities in Chennai, the nearest beach can be accessed within an hour of drive time. The sun scorched city gets respite in the form of sea breeze from afternoon. The sea breeze would be very soothing in the beaches around evening time. There are 8 major beaches within the city limits from Ennore in North to Uthandi in South. The most popular one is the Marina beach near the city center. It is a favorite spot for morning walkers and families seeking fresh air during the evenings. The sunrise and moonrise can offer stunning looks from the beach.
I love beaches and they are just so relaxing
True. The cool breeze and the white sand can have a soothing effect.
I had been to Marina beach a number of times and sat there for some time in the evenings. I think it’s one of the best dating places in the country 🙂
Yes. You are right, especially the southern end closer to lighthouse. It is unofficially reserved for couples.
I love beaches , I live far away from a beach . I miss the beach all the time.
We can appreciate the value of something that is far away. I am sure you would make the most of it whenever you get a chance to hit the beach.
I thought you lived near a beach as your state is all along the Arabian!
I do not miss mine. I live 200-300 meters away from him.
Glad you stay closer to a beach.
My relatives live there, I love the photo
Hope you can visit the beaches in Chennai when you visit your relatives.
Thanks Tasartcraft for your valuable comments.
I agree. I have visited Merina beach and Santhome beach many times.
Glad to hear that Raaman. Beaches and Chennai are inseparable.
This is a wonderful picture, my friend … here it must be a real paradise
You are right Lado. Beach is where we find our paradise.
Beautiful picture. I think a lot of people get out of town to the beach. It’s more enjoyable
Yes Vidocka. But we don’t have to get out of town for beach. Our city is very much on the coast.
Many metropolitan residents love to spend evenings and holidays on the beach, especially those that are not too far away.
Yes Albert. We are fortunate to stay close to the sea.
You are so lucky, Mohan.
I have not been, I have been to Bangalore, Delhi, New Delhi and further north but never to the Indian Ocean side of India.
Please come DocAndersen. But avoid peak summer months from March to June.
I don’t travel as much now. Perhaps someday a visit will happen!
Beautiful image! I think it’s great to be there at the sunset time!
Yes Ileana. Sunset time is when the sea breeze is in full flow. It would be the much needed relief for us. But the sun sets on the city side and the view may not be spectacular. Sunrise would be a treat to watch as the sun lazily climbs up from the sea. Only catch – we need to be there before 6 am.
