Polar night, pure white snow and mysterious lights of different colours. All of them are the necessary finishing touches to the portrait of the true Norwegian winter.

Aurora Borealis… Somebody calls it streams of charged particles. Somebody says it is a pictures of heavenly artist. Anyway, it’s undoubtedly worth seeing because such an experience is something you remember for the rest of your life!

Northern Lights hunting in Norway requires some knowledge, time and patience – the probability of watching this phenomenon is completely depends on whims of the nature. The approximate recipe for a successful hunt is as follows: the Polar Night + the evening/night time + clear sky. See the decoding of the recipe and more detailed instructions – https://www.visittromso.no/en/northern-lights-howtosee

Also would like to mention that the best time to see Aurora Borealis is the period from late November to early March.
Wish to combine Northern Lights hunting with dog sledding, riding on snowmobiles and ice fishing? You can find all of this in the polar Norwegian city – Tromsø – “the gateway to the Arctic” (like Bergen, which is “the gateway to the Norwegian fjords”. Tromsø is situated about 400 km north of the Arctic Circle. The visit to this wonderful city will let you to get in touch with the unique Arctic nature, to watch the life of the largest city in Northern Norway, to see curious local sights – the oceanarium, the world’s northernmost botanical garden and so on.
