I have had a chance now to play with Keecker. My initial set-up issue was a communication and design issue. After unboxing, the battery went into security mode. That meant Keecker didn’t change, and wouldn’t turn on. By resetting the power base connection, Keeker was fun. The set-up, because Keekcer is a multi-media device was straightforward and very easy. The Keecker team did an awesome job with the on-screen (OSD) set-up. The concept for the robot was from a former Google employee, which meant you could quickly connect to Keecker and use it with your Google account. That let me connect to youtube and start watching stuff quickly. Netflix is also pre-loaded.
The machinery is smooth, and the fan isn’t overwhelming. That is always an issue with digital projectors. The fan can cause the speakers to be less than clear. Keecker doesn’t have that problem. Overall my initial impression is lots of potentials. I am slowly filling my house with robots. I have backed several over the years and find the field of robotics to be interesting. Keecker is similar to Jibo, although Jibo has a screen and not a projector. Similar in the sense of interaction. I haven’t tried the projector on the ceiling yet; the projector can tilt form paralleled (wall) to the ceiling for presentation. That might be a better thing to try in the basement.
The goal for today, before I finalize my initial review will be to map the middle layer of the house. That allows Keecker to know where it is, where its charging base is and where the person calling Keecker is. I am also interested in seeing how effective Keecker will be operating as a remote. Remove ROV’s allow you to interact with the camera of the device remotely to see things that aren’t where you are. As a drone, ROV geek I like knowing and seeing things that I may or may not be able to easily get to see otherwise. I suspect in the next couple of weeks I will finish up my initial review of the Keecker and the Pilot voice translation hardware. It takes time to do reviews, and my rule is I have to use the item for at least two weeks first.
It’s pretty awesome! Keecker is the man
Keecker is pretty cool, robotics and home entertainment in one place!
You are a very detail oriented person, a great trait especially for what you are doing.
I got the detail orientation from my father. He was as well, although more about the science of things than the tech that runs it!
It’s always fun to know something new and up-to-date though a bit curious about being left behind.
Albert, I would never say that you are behind. The infinite possibilities that technology presents makes all of us ahead, behind and right where we should be most of the time!
What an encouraging wisdom.
Thank you. In sharing kindness we find the common ground for all of us!
