Illinois Fighting Illini one step closer to bowl eligibility

Since defeating the Wisconsin Badgers last month, the Illinois Fighting Illini has been on a roll, and just recently defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Seemingly off to a slow start, the Fighting Illini came out on all cylinders after half-time putting up 28 points and shutting the Rutgers out completely, eventually winning 38-10.

Up next for the Fighting Illini is the Michigan State Spartans who are currently on a 3-game losing streak compared to the Fighting Illini 3-game winning streak. With the adjustments the Fighting Illini made during the Badgers game, I believe they can defeat the Spartans, as like they did during their last meeting in Champaign.

As of now, the Fighting Illini is one game away from bowl eligibility with three games left ( Michigan State Spartans, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Northwestern Wildcats). I personally believe they have a chance to break into the top 25, as well if they continue their winning ways the rest of the season. With the Spartans this weekend, the Fighting Illini has an 18th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes team the following.

    • They play like Florida State did when they were a powerhouse. These halftime comebacks are crazy man. I will be buying a ticket for the Illini v Northwestern game in Champaign.

      • Nice, Illinois is miraculously in a bowl again. I don’t know who lit a fire under Lovie Smith, but that person deserves a gift card or something.

        • I just hope that win the bowl game. I plan to put together something on that this week. And I hope that next year mirrors this year, or maybe get better because I’am skeptical. We will be losing a lot of talent after this season.
