After a slow start in the 1st quarter, the Illinois Fighting Illini picked it up in the 2nd, scoring 24 points! I got deep into this game because it is rare that I get the chance to watch a Fighting Illini game entirely. The 1st quarter was hard to watch because I knew that we were better than the UConn Huskies, yet we were not showing it which led me to voicing my frustrations on Twitter.
UConn is one of those teams that start out strong going into the 1st quarter of the game, easing it up prior to the half then returning in the 3rd quarter bringing the heat again. The scary part about this game was that we lost one of our top players, Reggie Corbin, and certainly cannot forget about Mike Epstein in the season opener who could of been difference makers on how we started out this game, but the Fighting Illini held on to win.

One thing that the Fighting Illini does a lot is showboat after every huge play and score. And in this game against UConn we got hit with a lot of un-sportsman like flags which was hilarious to watch as a Fighting Illini fan. I cannot think of any game against an opponent that we did not celebrate after a score.

Next week, the Fighting Illini takes on Eastern Michigan Eagles in what is chance to go 3-0 going into Big Ten match-ups which will test how good this team is.

It’s been a while since Illinois could win all 3 non-conference games. They may have a shot at a bowl game, but their Big Ten schedule is stacked. The only conference gimme is Rutgers.
I think from here it will be nothing but losses unless we defeat Rutgers. Our defense is so suspect.
It’s going to be another rough year for the Illini. They just lost to Eastern Michigan. The MAC is back.
I saw that. It is almost as though our team doesn’t study their competition.
Did not watch this one. Roll Tide!
Best of luck for both team
Thanks, Witty. We will need all the luck we can after our loss today against Eastern Michigan
so i suspect i am the wrong audience for this post. I grew up a Hoosier Fan. but, best for the season. Until you lose to Indiana!
I will remember that you are a Hoosier your fan when their losing : )
We don’t have them on our schedule this season, but I know a few teams that do, starting with Ohio State next week.
OSU doesn’t count for IU. We consider that a bye week.
Lol, well no wonder why they get shut out because they don’t show up.
ow.
let’s play National Championship roulette
IU vs. Illinois.
24 IU
18 Illinois
take away gymnastics and Illinois has 8 in all sports…
Some stats ; ) – http://www.winsipedia.com/illinois/vs/indiana
We are currently spanking the Hoosiers in our faceoff history.
And none of those are national championships in football. The Fighting Illini has one 5 (1914, 1919, 1923, 1927, 1951) to Hoosiers 0
The world sport is Soccer – IU 7 Illinois 0
I got to see them in Columbus one year playing Ohio State. It was cold as hell, but I still made my way there.
The Fighting Illini football has also won15 conference titles (1910, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1919, 1923, 1927, 1928, 1946, 1951, 1953, 1963, 1983, 1990, 2001) to Hoosiers 2 (1945, 1967)
basketball –
IU 5 Illinois 0
Not a bad basketball team
Illinois didn’t score a goal against IU in soccer for nearly 15 years.
Ohio State just beat down your Hoosiers 51 to 10 at home. Ouch : ) Wanted to share the breaking news.
too late, I watched it live and then remembered it is a bye week for us.
Looks like it will be another year that Ohio State runs through everyone. If there is anyone to give them competition I would have to say Wisconsin. I would say Northwestern, but I wasn’t impressed yesterday when I went to their game. I will be doing a writing on it this upcoming week.
i think it is going to be OSU and Michigan last day of the season to decide their bracket facing Wisconsin the Big ten Title game.
That is if they can get through their tough schedule, and it is tough! They will be exposed by Wisconsin this weekend, and on top of that is an away game. They also have away games against Penn State and Maryland which aren’t easy too this season.
I always enjoy when IU when in football, but I don’t count on it!

i have been to many games over the years. it is always a great experience
I thought about driving home to see the Fighting Illini game against Nebraska, but after them losing to Eastern Michigan for crying out loud, I said the hell with it. I might go for the Rutgers vs Fighting Illini game because that may be the only game they will win left in the season, lol.
poor Rutgers. I am actually taking a class there now.
Yep! Rutgers, Illini, Hoosiers, Minnesota, and Nebraska are the bottom feeders in the division. I see Nebraska breaking out though at some point. They are tied with Minnesota.
