Waterlilies at the Chicago Botanic Garden

The Chicago Botanic Garden is located on Lake-Cook Road in Glencoe, Illinois. It measures 385 acres and contains 27 different gardens and 4 natural areas and is run by the Chicago Horticultural Society. Construction began in 1965 and it opened to the public in 1972.

There are several aquatic gardens which contain a variety of waterlilies. Here are some of them. I don’t know the species of all of them. I have provided them for the ones I do.

All of the photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera.

This variety of waterlily is known as the Tropical Day-Blooming Waterlily (Nymphaea 'St. Louis Gold')

I used ACDSee Ultimate 10.3 to crop, adjust the lighting, especially on the flowers, and boost the contrast and the vibrance.Photo

  1. I love these plants, as well as your post-production work. I think “Waterlily 5” is my favourite, for the way evokes this famous poem by American haikuist Nick Virgilio:
    Lily:
    out of the water …
    out of itself.
