Gallery of Sparrows

The Band of brothers or sisters in foraging for food. These Sparrows make fast friends with sympathetic people who drop them a crumb or two. When people leave food on the table the Sparrows come and make their raids on the left overs. I have often caught them red handed with the camera.

Sparrows are world wide as far as I know. They have such simple charm .

This Sparrow in the plum tree next door, looking at me as if it is very hungry and where is my meal?

I drop bread crumb trails in the garden so the birds eat the bugs when I don't put slug bait down. They get bread and protein at the same time.

I discourage them from eating my strawberries by hanging disused CDs over the patch on a string so the wind blows them over the strawberries. Don't mind giving some fruit to them with the compost, but they are told to leave us some too.

These 2 Sparrows are happy to stay for a little while, a band of sparrows, Fellow beggars of gaining what they can from people who go to cafes.

Some cafes call sparrows, "Rats on wings" I tend to disagree and to me often these birds are the main attraction you can eat food anywhere.

A group of local Sparrows sit in conversation on a nearby, next door TV aerial. They all look out and talk at the same time ready to fly at the first sign on panic. Cats often go up on the roof seeking easy prey. These Sparrows are not stupid and sit on top watching cats, which are far too many. The cats are well fed by lonely people as the units only house one person. Some of these cats are excellent rat catchers. Never underestimate a sleeping cat.

This little guy eats what is left of the millet. She is standing on a disused plastic milk bottle that has been converted to being a bird feeder. It pays not to get them too dependant on people feeding them, because some die when you can't sustain them with your offerings, when you go away on a holiday.
