Daffodil Day

Every year in Spring in New Zealand we have “Daffodil Day”. New Zealand has one of the highest cancer rates in the world.

New Zealand and Australia are sitting under an Ozone hole. Ozone is a protective layer of an oxygen form that protects the earth from the damaging ultra violet rays of the sun. It protects people from harmful rays. Consequently you will even see dark skinned people in New Zealand are just as vulnerable as those with fair skin. Melanoma is a skin condition caused by being sunburnt too often and the U V rays can alter your cells in your body, causing tumours and a lot of problems.

So being checked is the best protection for cancer.

“Daffodil Day” is about raising money and awareness of cancer, any type of cancer. I lost my Grand mother to cancer and never met her as an adult because she died at 56 years of age. Dad died of cancer at 70 years of age. At least 2 other members of my family died the same way, and I’ve lost good friends because of this awful disease.

Global warming is real and the reason why the ozone hole is in our atmosphere is because of pollution of earth. A lot of people tell you Global warming is a myth, believe me, it’s very real.

It’s caused by 2 things, pollution and the natural cycle of our planet earth at the moment.

Now, as we are on Earth, it is our responsibility to look after it. We are here for a reason and that is one of the reasons. If we fail to clean up after ourselves, some time soon as bad house keepers we will be made accountable. The mess can kill us.

So people buy Daffodils probably plastic, but it can decorate something and the money for them will go towards the Cancer foundation. That will lead to research to prevent cancer and cure it in the future. Hence, when I think of any one who died due to cancer, I buy it for them.
