This plant was in a city planter in Chicago, Illinois (Loop).
Caladium – Order Alismatales : Family Araceae : Subfamily Aroideae : Tribe Caladieae : Genus Caladium
There are at least 14 species and over 1,000 cultivars.
Editing was done using Luminar Flex 1.1. I used the Develop filter to decrease the exposure and highlights increase the contrast and clarity and open up the shadows. Then I added the Accent AI filter and used the Tone filter to increase the SmartTone and shadows.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photograph.
Thanks, Ghostwriter. I’m glad you liked it.
We have these and the one in your photo is very common which is seen in the rains. Other varieties we need to buy
They only exist in gardens around here. I don’t know how well they do in our climate as I don’t see them very often and, a lot of times, it’s indoors.
Lovely photo of this plant…..
Thanks, Pamela. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Presumably the photo is of one of the cultivars – it’s hard to imagine that this colour variation would occur naturally. It is effective, though, and you’ve captured it very nicely.
Thank you. I searched Google trying to pin down the species and quite a few of the images I found were similar to, but not quite the same as, this one. A lot were green, red and white but in different proportions and patterns.
