Jellicoe Pools & Gym

When I go to Jellicoe Pools I either go for swimming practice of gym. I do very easy exercises and no one bothers me.

This is the beautiful view you get when you are on the treadmill . The outdoor pool is closed as it is now too cold for swimming. However the pigeons and seagulls don’t mind and often pop in for a bird bath.

Yes, you can see this pool is clean and pristine.

Meant to say, included in the membership is access to gym, pools, steam room, spa, & sauna. It is not as expensive as many gyms in Auckland and run by the YMCA. I think that the YMCA is a very good organisation for gyms.

    • Thanks Vidocka, some people like me began on a “Green Prescription” and I began pool walking then learned to swim and then went along to the gym. After a while, I became a paid member but with “Green Prescription” can go for less expense than a person who is wealthier.
“Green Prescription” is given by a family Doctor or General Practitioner. They are trying to get people to exercise more.
New Zealand is a world leader in obesity and it is a way of getting people to live a healthy lifestyle.
Unfortunately, our life style in New Zealand today does not lend itself to healthy living.
Obese people are usually people in the poor low socio economic ends of New Zealand, Maoris, Pacific Islanders and those on a very low income.
Hence, the need for a “Green Prescription”
