I have some friends who are dealing with really heavy things:
Friends are hurting
In unimaginable ways
And I am left
With not knowing
What to say
The words don’t come
To me
And those that do
Seem trite and untrue.
I don’t want to
Shout out platitudes
When what my hurting
Friends need
Is a caring word
A shoulder to lean on
A friend tried and true.
Friends are hurting
In unimaginable ways
And sometimes I find
I just don’t know
What to say.

This is a Great to see.
That’s a lovely poem, Michelle. Everyone needs someone to talk to and to be a good friend.
Yes they do, and thank you so much!
Sometimes we need to be silent.
I agree, there are times we simply need to be thatshouldee, I tried to be that when my Friends nine year old son died. Because there really is nothing you can say!
You captured what everyone feels. You can us all a voice. Thank you.
You are more than welcome , I’m an author, and your kind words are worth far more than money!
A powerful message here, so many people are hurting in silence.
Yes, far too many! And it leaves you feeling helpless!
I just told a friend this the other day. I am so not good at knowing the right thing to say. Good poem.
Thank you Kim, I appreciate that.
