This is srikaya, maybe you know it as sweetsop fruit or sugar-pineapple (Annona squamosa), one of the fruits in my mother’s garden beside carambola or starfruit. Actually, my mother is not the one who like plants. When I used to live with her, it was me who made the yard into the garden and took care of it, but after I had my own house, later she became a fan of plants as well.
This srikaya tree is one that she planted in addition to a replacement starfruit after the previous tree died of age. The tree that became the symbol of prosperity and beauty is quite diligent to bear fruit. This fruit, in addition, tastes good, all parts of the tree have advantages as an herbal medicine.

It is a half-ripe fruit color, a few more days will full ripe and will turn pale yellow. Unfortunately, I can not tell you the taste.

The shape is unique and beautiful, sweet taste. We can eat the fruit by splitting it by hand, then remove it part by part according to the lines.

If you ever know the soursop (Annona muricata L) fruit (I’ve posted it too), it’s a family with this fruit in Annonaceae, with the same first name Annona, the difference, soursop fruit has a combination of sour and sweet, while srikaya is just sweet. It’s hard enough to remember other fruit flavors or jams that alike in taste.
