Marigolds

Marigolds are common flowers, yet year after year there seems to be new varieties in this plant. They often say that when you plant marigolds in your garden you have lesser pests. But my marigold has so many mealy bugs on them. Mealy bugs drink the sap of your plants and kills them.

They are such colorful, bright flowers, that it is hard to overlook them. I always put marigolds in the dullest corner of my garden to give it a boost of color and lift.

I also plant these along the fence Β for some color and brightness. Last year I had a whole bunch of them growing on the sidewalks. Β People admired them as they walked past.

Marigolds

When we moved in to the house, I was a bit disappointed by the neglected garden I found here. Grass was high and there were a lot of molehills. I tried to make some cultivated patch of the garden to rest my eyes on it, so seeding some fast growing flowers seemed to be good idea. Since my favorite are marigolds and calendulas, the choice wasn’t so hard. My efforts weren’t in vain, so I can proudly present my marigolds. πŸ™‚
