:) ? ? Happy Happy March! – Spring is Springing! ? ? :)

Happy March, everyone! ? As you can see, I am super happy to see February 2018 OVER; but we’re not even going to waste our time discussing that ? All of these photos came fresh this morning, straight out of our yard on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia. As you can see, spring is springing everywhere! ? I’m excited!

Variety is the Spice of Life!

We have all types of different flowers popping up. Having just moved into this place at the end of March last year, we didn't take time to notice all the different flowers then. I'm greatly enjoying watching the earth come alive here this year! 🙂

Dandelions!

People who like to keep their lawns "well-manicured" don't realize that the "weeds" they're killing are great medicine. I'm looking forward to making dandelion tea, salads, and even wine!

    • That sounds absolutely amazing! I’ll have to try them that way 🙂 My children enjoy picking them with me. This year, I have two grandbabies to help. This is going to be fun 🙂

  2. No dandelions yet for us. They are still covered with snow. When that melts, though, they will be growing vigorously and it will be time to make up a pot of spring dandelion crowns.

Bunny Food

Fresh clover is popping up all around us. I can't wait to see some baby bunnies this year! The tables are set 😉

  2. Clover is also covered by snow, here. We don’t have many rabbits, though, but we do have lots of hares, specifically snowshoes. It looks like your hen’s bane is also blooming.

Forsythia!

We took a ride out after I took these photographs in our yard this morning; and you can't help but notice that forsythia is blooming is just about every yard here.

The daffodils began blooming here last week; but the foliage began peeking up to us about a month ago, following the worst snow storm here in one hundred years! The pretty, little flower garden is just outside our office windows 🙂

More Forsythia!

Since these had already stopped blooming before we moved in last year, I didn't notice that we had two huge Forsythia growing at the northern end of the house. I don't usually care much for Forsythia but I'm glad to see any sign of spring this year!

  2. Around here, scotch broom and sagebrush take the place of the forsythia…when they finally decide to bloom. The scotch broom is an invasive species, but it is pretty.

Here Come the Leaves 🙂

After a long, gray winter, seeing the trees begin to bud is one of my favorite parts of the springtime show. Trees with no leaves are so drab. Glad that's almost over! 🙂

  2. It is definitely too early for trees to bud out here. IF we have an early spring, I wouldn’t expect that until the last of this month or the first part of next month.

  5. We still have plenty of snow on the ground, though we’ve had daytime temps of over 40 for the last couple days. We have more snow coming in later next week. Still, some of the early birds are beginning to show up, mostly cedar waxwings and finches. No robins yet, but that is understandable. They wouldn’t be able to get to the ground yet.

      • I’m in Montana rather than Michigan, but the snow has finally ended. All spring it has been cooler and wetter than normal, though. It has only got into the 80’s three or four days, though it should be in the 80’s most of the week, however.

        • Sorry for that. I have another friend in Michigan lol Sounds great! We have very high humidity levels here so the heat plus the humidity makes for some miserable days when it’s in the upper 90’s. They’re great for sitting under a good shade tree, drinking lemonade or ice cold sweet tea; but not good for much else lol I guess it would be best described as rainforest conditions, lots of biting flies of all shapes, colors and sizes…

          • When it gets hot here, we have the opposite problem. After a few weeks above 90, our humidity drops until we have about 12% to 10% humidity. That is exceptionally dangerous. A person can become dehydrated without even knowing that it is happening.
