  • 1 turnip
  • 3 white bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Peel the carrots and turnip.
  2. Small dice all the vegetables.
  3. Cook the vegetables in six cups of water with a little salt.
  4. Let all boil together until the vegetables are quite tender, and then blend them in the blender or food processor with the bread and some of the water they were cooked in.
  5. Return the mixture to the saucepan, add the butter and season with salt and pepper.
  6. If the soup is too thick add more of the water.
  7. Boil the soup up, and serve. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream or with croutons.

  1. This looks like a good fall recipe (root veggies) for a rainy day. I’m surely going to do this. Whenever I do carrot soup I always think ginger. I do so little with turnips. Yes, this looks great.
