Until now, I did not know that only peafowl males have gorgeous tail feathers that are shown to females at the wedding. An adult peacock fan has an average of over 200 feathers. Females are mottled, unobtrusive. So, I guess, this one is female because there is no gorgeous tail with feathers.
The peacocks are omnivorous – they eat almost everything: insects, lizards, sometimes even small snakes, as well as seeds, grains, lenses, soft crop roots.
They have strong legs that can kill the snake. The female starts breeding at the age of three, with up to 8 eggs per year.
This peafowl crossed our path in Turkey. And I shot how she crossed the road. Amazing how this bird did not feel any fear of people, felt so naturally like in own environment.
