While out and about on my recent trip, I found another unique item to share with you. An outhouse. This was the entrance to the restroom. Pretty unique. It was made by a local man and you can see the details if you look really close. This was just another cool find and another reason to always keep your camera handy.
Funny thing is I remember always hearing my parents and grandparents talk about how these were the only bathrooms they had. All outdoor plumbing. We do not know how lucky we have to today with all of the modern day conveniences.

365 Photos Challenge Day 259
I am going to try it in black and white as Robin suggested.
Nice photo thank you Carol.
Would it be nice-retro for a black and white photo. Try it.
Yes I need to do just that, thank you!
Thanks for your comment, I loved it as well.
This outhouse reminds me of an old boathouse
Yes it kind of does, thanks!
I like this type of doors. We can still find them for pictures. Although I am surprised by its purpose.
Yes they are still used in some places.
That is pretty kewl, but we differ here. I do indeed know how lucky we are because when I was growing up we did not have indoor plumbing. We carried every drop of water from a spring in the hillside (all day on laundry day, back and forth) and our bathroom facilities were outdoors with spiders and the occasional rat, hot in the summer and ice cold in the winter. But as outhouses go, ours was pretty clean, ventilated and painted white.
Those were the days, right Ann? We had pumps no city water for awhile. I do remember that. My grandmother hand washed everything for many years. Good that your outhouse was well maintained.
I use to hold the urge to go to the bathroom all day at my grandparents house when I was young, because I hated it so much lol.
Oh my goodness LaJenna, so you remember.
Well my grandpa didn’t want to put one in, but then when he remarried he did lol. He was raised not to have to have luxuries of life lol.
He appreciated the good things in life, those things were important to him I guess.
Outhouses like that have character, and certainly make for fun photos!
Yes this one makes great decoration!
We definitely take our modern amenities for granted. It’s definitely not fun to use an outdoor toilet.
Yes indeed we do. I try to pause every day and realize how good we have it.
Very cool find, that’s very interesting!
I thought it was cool Courtney.
you know it is an outhouse, because of the half moon on the door. My dad used to say that was because there was a full moon inside!
Ha ha ha I have never heard that Doc. That is too funny and makes a lot of sense. 🙂
It is an old saying my grandfather told my father. 🙂
I love the old sayings and how they stick with us to use in our lives.
Very nice post Carol 🙂
Thanks so much for your visit hamza. 🙂
”Welcome” @Carol DM 🙂
That is really cute! Love it
I thought so too, thanks!
