I have been waiting on my three Rose of Sharon bushes to start blooming. The bees and butterflies love the blooms. They are full of pollen. I checked them this morning and found the first buds and a couple of blooms.
They will be covered soon. Also I had to put out a trap for the Japanese beetles. They love the buds. They will devour them and kill them before they even open. I have a trap, (will post photos later) I put in the ground a few feet from the bushes. The wind blows a fragrance that smells like the Rose of Sharon and they are tricked into the trap. It gets most of them but I always have some to deal with every year. With nature is it always something to deal with but that is all part of it. I still get to enjoy a lot of pretty blooms, bees and butterflies all summer long. I came in just in time. The rain has started once again. Have a great day everyone!

Oh i love rose of sharon’s. More than hibiscus even. My favorites are the blues and purples of course, but the whites come close.
Thanks Kim, they have b been around forever and I never get tired of them. Yes I love the blues as well.
