I have two rows of Murray Cypress trees in my backyard. They have grown, so far, to about 15 feet tall. I am very satisfied with how they are turning out. They are fast growing trees and are evergreen. Two of my favorite kinds of tree. The birds also like the “forest” that has been created by these trees. Each year I find more and more bird nests hidden in the trees. I have to be very careful looking as the birds are very defensive, as they should be. I was walking around the yard and noticed a huge spider web in this one. I hope you can see it. The sun hit is just right.

Kim Johnson has started a new April theme in her Just for Fun challenge. The new April theme is trees.
Thanks for all of your comments. 🙂
I love that spider web. I think it belongs to an orb spider. I once watched one every evening when I lived in Thousand Oaks. It spun a new web every night between our pepper tree and our family room window, so I had a great view. Unfortunately it was long before I had a digital camera,
I think you may be right Barbara, i have seen orb spiders around. They are so talented.
They are getting so big. This is the border for your yard right? The spider has the right idea, good place for a web. Funny that the birds attack you. The trees are theirs now. : )
Yes, just on one side. Now that houses are being developed, it may be time to plant more! Yes when they are building nests, they are aggressive.
Great post and photo for the challenge! Very nice 🙂
Thanks Courtney for visiting!
Two rows of cypress trees, leading to a lamp post?
Leading to the sunlight Alex. It is a haven for the birds in the spring. I thought about getting one of those bee keeper outfits and go in the “forest” as I call it to check out the nests. Ha…visual!
why does one need a beekeeper outfit to check bird nests?
Because birds are very aggressive when they are protecting their eggs and babies. They will attack you, literally!
It seems that your positive home energy makes animals feel at home in your neighborhood.
That was one of my main goals when I started all of this in my yard.
I like the evergreen cypress. The cypress oil is extracted from the needles and branches of the tree. It has very good therapeutic properties, which are expressed in astringent in spasmolytic, diuretic, hepatic and haemostatic action.
Yes and this is a murray cypress, a little different color. Thanks!
In the meantime, the spider’s trap was found.
Yes indeed the sunlight helped.
Very nice. We don’t have much of a backyard in our building. It measures about 5 x 25 feet. We do have a serviceberry tree there, which is nice because its berries attract a lot of birds. They taste pretty good also. we do have a lilac bush and a mock orange as well as a small garden.
Sounds like you make a lot out of a small size of property.
Very beautiful photo and wonderful colors! I imagine the sweet songs of the birds hidden there. I have always loved Cypress trees.
Thanks Ellie and these are Murray cypress they have a tinge of blue very pretty.
