Boboteaza – 365 Photo Challenge#43

On January 6, Orthodox Christians celebrate Boboteaza( Epiphany). It is the day when our Lord Jesus Christ was baptized by St. John. Epiphany ends the cycle of winter holidays that begin with the celebration of Saint Nicholas on December 6th. On this day, priests in the Orthodox church sanctify the waters. Then the water transformed into agheasma, is taken at home. It is said that this water has healing properties.

I took this photo during the water sanctification service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Targoviste

This is my 43rd post for the 365 Photo Challenge –  started by artbytes26. Rules and guidelines for this challenge can be found here: 365 PHOTOS Challenge. Everyone is invited.
