Saint George’s Day is a Christian and national holiday celebrated on May 6 (April 23 on the old calendar), which marks the memorial of St. George. It is one of the most common celebrations that are celebrated in Serbia. After Christmas, the birthday celebration that celebrates May 6 is a holiday with the most customs. On the eve of Saint George’s Day, there are plaques of dried flowers, lily of the valley and dwarf, and with it the gates of the gate and the entrance door in the house. That’s why you must twist one today.
Roma, throughout the world, mark the largest cultural and religious holiday of Saint George’s Day or Erdeleza. Đurđevdan symbolizes the break of winter and the coming of spring. As a traditional nomadic people, the Roma celebrated the launch of their casket with this holiday and started again on the road. Every year, on May 6, Roma celebrate their traditional holiday Saint George’s Day, considered the day of spring and summer, on the day when life and nature are celebrated.
On the eve of Saint George’s Day, the housewife drops a variety of spring plants in a bowl of water, and then immediately descends: the dren, the healer, and finally the grave and red egg, the guardian who remained from Easter; It is then placed under the rose in the garden to overnight. In the morning, they do it all by water: children – “to be healthy as a dog”, girls – “the boys grab around them”, the older ones – “to be healthy”, the host – “to keep his house well-guarded”, etc.
St George is the patron saint of England but you’d hardly notice it if you didn’t know! The Welsh, Scots and Irish make far more of their patron saints days than the English!
