I recently lost my Dad. He was 85. I went down to visit him in the hospital and sadly I watched him die. I am so thankful I was there with him. His only sibling left. After returning home I noticed this beautiful butterfly on my deck sedum. I cannot remember the name. I felt close to my Dad when I saw it.
My mind is not working at 100% yet. Still trying to get back in the swing of things. It really takes something out of you to lose someone, especially a parent. So I will share this photo in memory of my wonderful Dad who is up there somewhere, suffering no more.
Hi, Carol. I just read your story. I hope you feel better now. I believe your dad is with God right at this moment looking down on you.
wonderful
I lost my dad too, and having something special to look at like this butterfly is a treasure indeed. Sorry for your loss!
Sorry for your loss, thanks for your words.
It is a painted lady butterfly, Carol! Your dad is sending you a message: you are a beautiful lady, and you’re loved! My condolences!
Thanks Icy, I could not remember. My mind is working about 50% these days. Thanks again! How sweet, I believe he is!
I’m sorry about your loss … I understand what you’re experiencing … I lost my parents very early
Thank you for your words and I am sorry for your losses.
I’m so sorry for your loss Carol. I know this is a very sad and difficult time for you and your family. You have my very deepest sympathy
Thank you Gina, my family pretty much consist of me now, lost other siblings, so it is tough. But I will get through this as I have done in the past. Thanks again for your kind words.
Sorry you had to go through this. My condolences!
Thank you very much Andrew.
Sad to hear about your dad though but when you love someone so much; he or she’s always around; what if we can’t see our dear ones….
Thank you and you are right, they are forever in our hearts.
I’m sorry for your loss, Carol!
Thank you Ellie.
My condolences to your father. Let his soul rest in peace. I lost my mother for two years, then my father and my sister, who was only 55 years old. Courage. They will always be in our hearts.
Thank you for your kind words. I too have lost many, thank you again.
I breathe
I smell the scent
I sighed
the scent disappears for a moment
out of my senses
but it filled my heart
along with all the beauty of love
the love that exists with my life right now
and the breath of my life
right now.
Oh my goodness, you just touched my heart Albert. 🙂
I needed these words more than you know.
Thank you my friend.
Cheers!

Thank you, it is sad.
Yes Really Beautiful.
Thank you.
welcome friend:
My father passed away last year. When I was little, he would sometimes get me an RC Cola. When I can find it, I’ll buy some RC Cola to remember him by.
So sorry for your loss Chris. Memories are the best, they never leave us!
Thanks for sharing.
Sympathising with you in your grief, Carol. it’s a great photo, and it is wonderful that you felt your Dad close when you saw it. I always found the flowers on sedums slightly odd, but they attain completion with the butterflies they are so adept at attracting! (Sedum leaves are also great in salads, or just to chew alone. There’s enough substance to give them a bit of texture, and a little astringency to keep the palate interested too 🙂 )
Thank you Norman. It is a difficult time.
The butterflies like the sedum because it is like a perch or landing zone for them,
or so it seems. I love this sedum because it gets darker as the season changes. It
will become a dark burgundy before long when we get into fall. Never thought about
a sedum salad.
So sorry for your loss, I lost mine as well. Great photo, and reminder he will always be with you.
Thank you and sorry for your loss Kim.
