Spirit ~ 365 Photos Challenge #139

What is really yearned by your deepest inner life?

That was one of the questions I addressed in a meeting with clients six months ago. I have asked them to ponder the question in depth before they answer. Why?

When a company’s management feels it has done a lot of things so far to survive but has not been able enough to approach a revision, of the revision, of their vision then the unrest expands in the air. Company members, from executives to ordinary staff, are under pressure for years.  When organizational thinkers feel that they have used a variety of management approaches to deal with threatening situations, from inside and outside, while managers and staff feel they have bested their potential but unfortunately do not move the wheels of the company toward hope, the haze that blocks their view gets thickened.

“The spirit, the strong and right spirit,  and the vibrant spirit alive!”. “Also tranquility and happiness”, Those are two answers from two managers after some answers were debated at the meeting. And the answer also sounded strange at the time because they felt they had made a lot of effort to build the spirit there; build a corporate culture, motivate the spirit with various seminars and training, even by injecting religious dogma.

Their understanding and awareness regarding life as a spirit have brought great change amid the uncertainty of today’s business environment. Now they work in “contemplative management” where everything they do, they enjoy and fully realize. They put their lives in it. It’s like working meditation, something like walking meditation, yoga, zen etc. What has affected them?

It is a mutual agreement to realize the Spirit as themselves outside of what they normally see as their true self. The self who is not a leather pouch with nine holes. They agreed to be both soul and body at the same time. It even becomes the overall goal, the company and the individuals in it.

My response to both managers’ responses at the time was “when we lose motivation, whenever, that means we have lost the source of vitality, So motivating means restoring the “spirit” of our lives, helping to find the source of that vitality; The source of energy and potential that has become weak or lost. As we get closer to the Creator, or the Divine, or God, the Power that causes, then our existence becomes strong. We are closer, or even become one with the nature of ourselves that makes us live. “At that time, I also quote a question from Joseph Campbell, “Am I a bulb or light?”

Moving toward the spiritual life of creating energy, both personal and organizational, is power. As we touch the source of power, the life force flows to us.

    • Of course, Elenka. In an organization, there are always such people or parties; disagree, not interested, pessimistic, suspicious, opposed etc. but as long as some people agree and prove it, their attitude merely is the anticipated challenge and lesson to be addressed wisely

  1. We all must find our own inner self in whatever means necessary. Only then are we whole and can find peace and happiness. What a remarkable teacher/instructor/lecturer you must be to sit and listen to. I am sure you have helped many along the way, and you are continuing to do so.
