A hawk perched on a tree (which was the tallest tree in the park) is a favorite subject for me. He looks so majestic sitting there and surveying the scene. His eyes are watchful to spot any prey that he could become his breakfast.
I was reminded of the song ‘I am the top of the world and looking down on creation’ by The Carpenters. He looks lonely though and not so loved at this moment. Who knows for sure perhaps his mate loves him a great deal. I am sure he is hated by the squirrels and other rodents here. I am certain the smaller birds hate him too.
I am very careful with my pets when these birds are around. They can carry away small dogs if they have an opportunity I have read.

I see hawks circling around the area, looking for food. They are magnificent up close.
They are indeed birds fascinate me, especially these huge birds of prey.
The falcon is really one beautiful bird, dear friend
It is indeed Lado, I just love taking pictures of these birds in flight.
I, too, find it very difficult to paint
It is hard but well worth the try. Today I got a picture that made me so happy.
Hope to see her soon, dear friend
I watch the hawks flying in their huge circles overhead, love seeing that! Always interesting to recall the Carpenters. Sad ending for Karen.
Yes, I love watching them too, I am fascinated by them. Sad ending indeed for Karen.
She had a beautiful voice, but sometimes even beauty cannot rise above the beast within.
I love hunting ,but not of cute birds
I understand what you mean.
They visit my yard occasionally looking for small birds
That is a fantastic photo and I bet that bird thought he was at the top of the world, I love that Carpenter song,
Thank you Sandra, I love that song too.
I love that song and used to bellow it out in the good old days (lol)
We have the eagle that prefers to take positions.
Hmm.. So you love the song too.. LOL so did I belt it out at the top of my lungs till my mom got annoyed. 😀
Somehow I am not impressed with the songs of today.
I bellowed it out and you did the belting. Wonder who sounded louder (lol)
LOL I am not too loud, but I did sing my heart out those days. 😀
The vultures do not live in my area but I would like to photograph them. Beautiful picture!
Thank you Ileana , I haven’t seen vultures in a long time. Would love to photograph them too.
