I have heard that some people are wishing on the Christmas tree. That is one reason why many are taking a selfie by the Christmas tree because it is part of the wish. You can wish upon a star, also by a coin in the fountain. So why not make a wish by the Christmas tree? Who knows if your wish can come true.
In our family tradition, the Christmas tree is the center of the occasion but it is the Nativity Scene that is the center of the celebration. And since the Christmas tree is now a traditional symbol of the birth of the savior so maybe it has the power to grant wishes. I made a wish myself.

The only wish I have made so far is when I threw those 3 coins in the fountain in Italy (lol)
