Noticed today the wild mint I grow in a container in the screen room is starting to show itself for the first time this year. The cats love to eat this all spring and summer long.
I also use this mint in my hot tea. Love the smell as it takes me back to sitting on the porch with my dear grandmother, talking about life.
I am starting to see bits and pieces of spring trying to make its way through all the winter weather. It will get here soon.

it is nearly the time of juleps!
Almost. And the Dude knows it too. He loves this mint.
i see him on his high post nipping the mint!
He sometimes gets in the container and lays down. So funny.
he is an interesting bird overall isn’t he!
I have a few varieties of mint but no wild ones here.
I love these and keep them in a container.
I have a mint patch but I don’t know if it is wild. It grows fast and the runners fill the entire patch.
Sounds like it is wild and invasive. Does it smell like mint?
I love mint, it must be awesome to have it grow around you.
Yes it really is and the cats enjoy it too.
I have not seen wild mint.
We always have it growing wild in the woods. Also had it growing up. You can smell the fragrance before you see the mint.
I haven’t seen wild mint yet … but some have it planted in the garden
My neighbor gave me a small cutting years ago and it is still growing.
I have a variety growing all over my yard and field. My chickens love it! I need to try it in my tea! Do you know what variety you have? This one produces a lavender flower. It is very pretty growing. I don’t remember the scientific name.
I am not sure but it has lavender and white blooms.
We may have the same kind then. I am pretty sure I have some with white flowers as well. I have more of the kind with lavender blooms though.
Funny I haven’t seen them in the wild or neighbourhood garden!
Is it easy to grow?
It is the easiest thing. I keep it in a container because it is very aggressive.
Mint is my favorite herb for tea.
Same here, this smells so fresh. The cats enjoy as well.
