What color do you think I am? ~ A place of spiritual health

Today I decided to combine the two challenges (Black and White Friday and What Color Do You Think I Am?).

I think this post will be very close to Doc’s heart because he adores castles.

The small village of Olimje lies in the shelter of Mount Rudnica, in the area of Kozjansko Park.

Its grandeur is given by the castle, once owned by the Counts of Atems, now the municipality of Podčetrtek, which is now converted into a monastery, where the younger brothers of St. Franciscan – Minorites. Next to it stands the magnificent Church of the Assumption of Mary, one of the most beautiful Baroque works of art in our homeland. In the shelter of the monastery on the ground floor of the south tower hides an invaluable work of art, an old monastery pharmacy with frescoes, the legacy of the Pauline fathers who lived in the Olim monastery for 120 years (1663-1783).

Every year, this small village, which has twice (2009 and 2013) been selected in the Entente Florale competition for the best-kept settlement in Europe and has a glorious history, is visited by a multitude of pilgrims and tourists from home and abroad.

  1. Ha i knew it was a trick when I saw the colors offered.

The castle (which by the way made me really happy) is deep forest green. The grounds are all planted with Kentucky Bluegrass imported for this castle from Kentucky!

  2. What a gorgeous baroque castle. It almost looks like playing cards symbols on it. I guess it is a blue with grey designs. But the roof I think might just be brick red… I wish we had these beautiful castles here. Of course we have grand buildings such as the chateau laurier but it is nothing compared to this olimje castle…
