Toy Simplification Challenge

I am taking a 5 day Toy Simplification Challenge which is hosted by the owner of the Little Round Schoolhouse (or Supporting Simplicity Parenting). I have always been working on decluttering and organizing my home since my first kid was around 3 years old, as I found that my home started to become messier and more difficult to clean up. (Well, it was not really organized and simplified before my kids were born, but it’s certainly become more clutter.)

Toy simplification is one of the major areas I really need to tackle with. Though I don’t always buy toys for my kids, there are some hand-me-downs and free toys. I have also made some toys for them throughout these years as I am learning how to knit, crochet and sew. My kids also always play with anything they can find in our home, papers, stationery, pots, utensils, rubber bands, etc. This makes their play area more difficult to clean up as there are too many categories of toys.

I am glad with my two elder kids growing up and they are fine with giving up many toys and my youngest is not so attached to toys, I managed to donate quite a number of toys to others. I also keep most toys they still like in the store room and I only leave some toys in their play room, so they can clean up the toys themselves within 5-10 minutes.

There are still lots of toys I think I can get rid of or organize better. I am going to go through another round of toy simplification. Hopefully by doing so, we will spend more time together doing things that we love to do, instead of just cleaning, decluttering and organizing.
