This brilliant blue colored bird is called the river kingfisher. There are 87 species of kingfishers the kookaburra from Australia being the biggest. Many of the kingfishers of the world do not eat fish or live near water bodies.
The river kingfishers also feed on other water insects dragonflies etc. besides fishes. These lovey birds are poor housekeeper and their nests are littered with dried fish bones and rotting fish. Kingfishers have a high mortality rate as the fledglings often get drowned in the water during their first dive.
These birds have disproportionately large heads and long beaks. These birds have distinctive flight calls, a shrill, long call.
River kingfishers are said to have been hunted for their brilliantly colored feathers which adorned the hats of the Victorian women of rank.

I have seen kigfiser in action. It unfortunately didn’t able to capture that.
Yup, it is hard to capture birds in action. I sometimes wait patiently for hours to get a good shot.

That is interesting. I have seen the book in my brother’s library. I am not fond of political novels.
