Very little postwork on this piece, but notice how prominent the core shadow becomes on the second version. As usual, you might want to check out the larger versions before you cast your vote…

which lighting scheme do you prefer?

this one

that one

Answer me better on the right side
thanks for voting, lado…
With great pleasure, a friend
I will count on your support in the future
I was on the side that chose that one.
I might flip the piece and start again
Gotta go with “this one”. Her uniform is custom made I see
she definitely can’t wear one size fits all
I like the first one the best. 80% agrees
The other one was getting all the love in the original post and then this poll smashed it…
I get a better picture to the left, where you can see the whole face. I like her clothes.
I also love a woman in uniform…
Nice work Alex. I love the sky/clouds/background. Very well rendered!~
If you’ve ever seen propaganda art, there is usually a majestic skyline to indicate a better tomorrow is just over the horizon…
I tend to look down and avoid tomorrow!
yeah, what’s on the horizon is usually fascism and oppression…
I hope not, it is possible but I do still hold out a single candle.
The one of the left since I can see her face.
note the rimlight and core shadow
Okay I see where you are coming from now with these images.
I am always going there
I see your viewpoint now.
The right side one, even thought I not really like both.
I also had a tough time, that’s why I am asking you
I rather like the girl without her hair flying around. I find that the waving hair distracts my attention. Very nice rendering of a salute with subtle neutral colors. But one question: I thought salutes were to be done with the right hand or it is because I am cross-eyed? Forgive my ignorance…
I don’t know much about military tradition, I just have a uniform fetish…
Well it is a nice, curvatious uniform that fits well.
I looked into left hand salutes, and it seems like you can only do them if your right hand is incapacitated and it doesn’t look like hers is…
of course, I could always flip the piece
Yes, I looked it up too. It is up to you to decide if you want to flip that lovely lady around….
I chose “that one” I love the shadow and the hair.
they’re both compelling, but the cost is I can’t have the facial lighting of “this one”
ohh okay, when the hair is moving it appears to be more natural
both naturalistic and dynamic, so if I go the other way the hair is bland but if I go this way the lighting is bland
opportunity costs…
