When I decided to take a walk the other week to buy the roasted chicken for our dinner, I passed by the city’s plaza. (Read: https://virily.com/virily_poll/cutting-down-my-carbon-footprint/)
On the plaza stands a monument of a former president of the country, Pres. Manuel A. Roxas.
To many, he was like a local hero. Our city was renamed ‘Roxas City’ in his honor.

I think each state has its own heroes and their statues.
Yes, we have many statues here in the US as well.
