Nature Tuesday – The lonely tree

Long time ago, it was a  stately oak tree with a strong trunk and beautiful foliage. It has withstood many storms throughout its life, storms that left signs on its trunk. Now it’s just an old oak forgotten by all, who hopes that no strong storm will come to put it down.

“For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche.” Hermann Hesse

  • Old people should learn from trees how to be strong, don’t you think?
