National Gallery of Slovenia

The National Gallery of Slovenia is the central gallery of Slovenian works of art, located in Ljubljana on Prešernova cesta. It was founded in 1918. It holds the largest collection of works of art that were created on Slovenian territory during the period between the Middle Ages and modernism. The National Gallery is a monumental palace with a neo-Renaissance facade, built at the end of the 19th century at the promenade between the town center and Tivoli Park. Due to the spatial distress, an extension was built to the north of it in 1993, to which part of the collections were moved, and later connected to the building by an intermediate tract. The National Gallery itself was completely renovated between 2012 and 2016.
