Meadow Salsify – Macro Monday

Few days ago I spotted a giant dandelion in the grass. In fact this is is the beautiful wildflower Meadow Salsify – or  Meadow Goat’s Beard.  I haven’t seen it growing here before so am happy with my find. It is an interesting flower. It opens its flower  in the morning and closes before the heat of day. When it goes to seed, it looks like a giant dandelion.
