a filament
a thin line of metal
that excited warms
and
throwing off light
rejects darkness.
Each twinkle a reminder
that there is light here
but no longer here
as it moves to fast
to be caught.
Light the ultimate cockroach
scurrying away faster
than we can react
from a filament
tiny
lodged inside a colored bulb.

My mom brought a live Christmas tree every year. It was my most beautiful time.
my grandmother always had the best tree, my mom always had the most sentimental decorations. my love of the trees comes from the two of them!
These are wonderful memories of those times. I still have some mommy ornaments.
i have to go find a picture of my grandmother’s tree, it was a huge part of my childhood!
I unfortunately don’t have any pictures.
i think i have one my dad took of my grandmother’s flocked tree (painted white in the US is called flocking the tree but I don’t know why)!
We always had live trees growing up.
Love this… throwing off light rejects darkness.
thanks – that line is one i’ve used in a couple of my poems over the years.
