Grey heron (Ardea cinerea).
This year for the third time I visit Lake Kerkini in Greece.
Due to the repair of the locks, the water was very low and there was no more than 1/2 m of water under the boat’s keel.
But for all 9 times visiting the lake, this gray heron invariably stands on the harbor.
We even joke with Vasilios (owner of several pleasure boats) that she is the official photo model 🙂
So this photo model, the Gray Heron is a bird with great adaptive capacity, the only thing it needs is fish-rich and minimal peace of mind for humans.

Are there lakes with gray herons near your town?

No

they’ve inspired artists since the dawn of time
I have watched them very closely how gracefully move…
indeed, they’ve also inspired a martial art or two…
There are some in the area around lakes and they are gorgeous!
Really very beautiful bird!!!
I think they are a very attractive bird. Thank you for sharing the photo.
They are very good hunters!
we have blue herons in our area. They are majestic and beautiful.
I’ve seen it here in the city too, but as I try to get closer, they fly away. In my opinion, they were a couple.
Herons visit our local ponds occasionally, but I don’t have to go too far to find them on more substantial bodies of water. I saw a beautiful one on my recent visit to Berlin.
Here, close to one of the parks there are a couple.
